‘Artichoke’ was a drawing exhibition that Sinae Park(she/her) presented as a result of 3-month of her residency at Center of Contemporary Arts in Busan, South Korea in December, 2020.
‘Artichoke’ is a series of illustrations consisting of images and texts alongside. In the following series of ‘Beetroot’, a vegetable plays an important role in the development of the narrative. Cooking artichokes accompany conversations between friends about the awkward position of making objects that are beyond their own means and people around them. The self-serving questions about what the purpose of art might be are presented around the kitchen table while the main character, Samjung, is cooking the artichoke.
